Vicks Humidifiers Ensure Good Sleep + Reduced Chance of Illness

I have always been the type of person who can sleep like a baby at night no matter the temperature or air quality of the room where I am sleeping. I guess I’m just fortunate to be able to rest like a rock. Even if the air in a room is terribly dry I can still find a way to sleep soundly, although I know I am a rare case.

During the Christmas holiday my father-in-law came to visit and on his first night his sleep was miserable. Turns out, the air in our home is too dry for him and he desperately needed something to make his sleep more restful. The next night we placed a Vicks GermFree humidifier in his room and he slept like a baby. He didn’t get up coughing at all and his nasal passages did not drain during the night. It was my first time seeing a humidifier work effectively and now I’m sold on Vicks humidifiers and so is my father-in-law. When he went home, he bought one for his house so he can sleep more peacefully.

I was given the great opportunity to review three Vicks humidifiers and after the experience with my father-in-law I looked at each carefully to see the benefits of each. I reviewed theV790 Vicks GermFree Humidifier (a), the V5100NS Vicks Ultrasonic Humidifier (b), and the V3500N Vicks Cool Mist Humidifier, (c).

I happened to prefer the GermFree Humidifier because it lets off warm mist which helps kill bacteria in the air (a plus when combating the cold and flu), feels great in the winter, plus it’s phenomenal for my ferns! The Vicks Cool Mist humidifier is great if you want moisture in your home all year long, but you don’t want the added heat of a warm mist humidifier. Even the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends using a cool-mist humidifier or vaporizer in a child’s room as relief for stuffy noses and chest congestion.

The Vicks Ultrasonic Humidifier uses high frequency sound waves to break water into ultra-fine, visible, refreshing mist. Cool, visible mist is silently released into the air, offering comfort for cold and flu symptoms as well as dry air relief. Ultrasonic is also an option for individuals who desire moister air, but prefer cooler temperatures in the home.

Like I mentioned, I’ve never used a humidifier before this, but I’m sold! Just knowing that humidifiers help reduce bacteria in the air and reduce the spread of cold and flu germs is enough for me to keep several all around my home.

  1. Great advice! Here is another tip since the flu season is here, and germs abound! There is a great game out there to teach young children, and that is Germy Wormy Germ Awareness for Germ Transportation Vehicles ages 2 –7! It is a mom-invented, safe and drug-free program for them to learn how to both avoid and keep from spreading germs around.
